The PhotoBox management team

Launched at the beginning of year 2000 PhotoBox was the first online photo sharing and printing service in UK and Ireland and quickly became market leader. PhotoBox is strategically partnered by FujiFilm UK and Metro Imaging. PhotoBox joined forces with the Photoways Group in April 2006.

Also created in 2000, the Photoways Group incorporating Photoways, Pixdiscount and PhotoBox, is a pioneer and leader in the European online photograph printing market. Photoways offers customers in 15 countries a complete online service including printing, storage and sharing of multiple photos, as well as access to its world-leading, innovative photolab technology. The Photoways Group is backed by leading venture capitalists Highland Capital Partners and Index Ventures. Stan Laurent is Group CEO, whilst Pierre Chappaz, the founder of Kelkoo and ex-President of Yahoo Europe is Chairman.

Stan Laurent group chief executive officer

Stan brings extensive international internet experience in both start-ups and larger organizations. A graduate from Harvard Business School and ESCP, Stan started his career as manager of privatisations in the German Privatisation Agency. As Director for Strategy, Finance and Operations at AOL Bertelsmann in France from 1995 to 1998, he pioneered easy access to the internet for French consumers. He then moved to the online auction company QXL in London where he supervised the company’s European expansion and participated in its Initial Public Offering. Stan then joined AOL Europe in 2002 where he led the German business into profit, before his promotion to Chief Operating Officer for AOL Europe.

Mark Chapman managing director

Mark Chapman is a co-founder of PhotoBox. Earlier, he built a strong track record in system development, program management and investment strategies, all gained during a successful 15-year technology career at investment banks Merrill Lynch and UBS. Prior to this Mark spent time in telecommunications software engineering and also served 6 years as an officer in the British Merchant Navy. Mark has an honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Brighton.

Graham Hobson chief technical officer

Graham Hobson is a co-founder of PhotoBox. Earlier he was a founding partner of Hobson Rock, a company providing technology consultancy services to blue-chip investment banking clients including Merrill Lynch, Union Bank of Switzerland and Baring Securities. Graham also brings further management experience in finance and marketing and has an honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Westminster, London.

Lawrence Meritt commercial director

Lawrence brings extensive experience of online marketing and business development to Photobox. As Commercial Director Lawrence manages all aspects of Sales and Marketing. Lawrence has held senior marketing roles for a number of online blue chip brands; previously Lawrence has served as European Director of Central Marketing for Yahoo!, European Business Development Director for Atlas DMT, Online Marketing Manager for Expedia.co.uk where Lawrence was employee number seven in Europe and Advertisement Director for US tech publisher Ziff-Davis. Lawrence is engaged with three children and is a passionate Arsenal fan.
